No Turkey Gravy

Since we would get 50% off of our Thanksgiving turkey purchase if we bought an additional $30 worth of groceries, we decided to buy all of our Thanksgiving needs at once.  And we were going great until we tried to purchase instant turkey gravy mix.  There was only one package on the shelf and we needed four.  Since I suspected that they would restock the supply at night, we purchased the one package and would try again in the morning.

But the next day, there were no more packages on the shelves.  Concerned, we decided to try the store in Grand Rapids.  It was a much bigger store and would certainly have what we needed.  But no luck.  That store too was out of stock.

Suspecting that this gravy shortage would turn out like last years apple jelly shortage, we scanned the shelves for an alternative. Seeing some “heat and serve” packages of turkey gravy,  we decided not to take any chances.  We grabbed 1 1/2 quarts and threw them in our cart.  The last thing that I wanted to do was run out of gravy on Thanksgiving day.  And who knows, by Wednesday afternoon, that gravy could be worth 10 times what I paid for it.
