The Harvestmen

Lansing is a place that basically has two types of sit down restaurants; national chains that serve drinks and bars that serve food. This morning, as I drove past a bar that serves food, I noticed their marquee. “Live tonight the Harvestmen. No cover.”

I had to wonder just what are the Harvestmen? I suppose they are some sort of music group but I don’t know. And if they are a music group, just what kind of music do they do? With a name like that, I can’t image them as a rock, blues or rap group. Or if they are, they need to change their name. The Harvestmen sounds more like a name for a barber shop quartet.  Oh well, I guess I will never know.

  1. I’m a friend of Ted and Karol and the Vorlon Assistant, Sonia. My husband previously worked with them too (Carl). I’ve been reading your wonderful stories here. You got me thinking about this one….who are the Harvestmen? I’ve typed their name on Google, and found they are a Bluegrass/Folk band. Seems they play at many places in Michigan – including Bonnie’s Place, Old Hat Brewery, MAC’s Bar, Grand Marais Music Festival and also at the Moriarty’s Pub. I live in Florida, so I have no idea where these places are.

Thank you for making me laugh. Loved the “Red means Stop” article. The drivers here do the same thing.

  2. Thank you Sharon. I asked a few people that I work with if they had ever heard of the Harvestmen. but no one knew of them. I have been to Bonnies Place and Moriarty’s before. Neither of them seemed to be the bluegrass type of place.

I am glad I make you laugh. I have millions of stories. Thanks!!

  8. This is getting a bit more subjective, but I much prefer the Zune Marketplace. The interface is colorful, has more flair, and some cool features like ¡®Mixview¡¯ that let you quickly see related albums, songs, or other users related to what you¡¯re listening to. Clicking on one of those will center on that item, and another set of ¡°neighbors¡± will come into view, allowing you to navigate around exploring by similar artists, songs, or users. Speaking of users, the Zune ¡°Social¡± is also great fun, letting you find others with shared tastes and becoming friends with them. You then can listen to a playlist created based on an amalgamation of what all your friends are listening to, which is also enjoyable. Those concerned with privacy will be relieved to know you can prevent the public from seeing your personal listening habits if you so choose.
