Invariably when I check into a motel/hotel room, the message waiting light on the telephone is flashing indicating that I have a voicemail message.  But as usual, it is the hotel/motel welcoming me as their guest.  And while this it a nice gesture on the part of the establishment, it is a real pain for me since I have to learn how to use the voicemail system in order to retrieve their welcome message.  Of course, I could just ignore the light but what if it is a message of some import?  In the end, I cave in and retrieve their message.
