When I was a child, we all had measles, chicken pox and mumps.  And, our parents expected us to get them just as they expected us to lose our baby teeth.  It was no big deal.  It was more common than the flu.

And, if you hadn’t had the “Big Three”, you were intentionally exposed to them as a child so that you would not get them as an adult.

In short, the measles were not a big deal and no one even thought about vaccinations.
