The city recently sold the city owned cable company to Comcast for 3 million dollars. The city said that the system was old and needed to be updated and that the updates would cost a million dollars.
Our city leaders didn’t fall off of no turnip truck, no sir re. We took those city slickers to the cleaners. Instead of shelling out a million dollars for updates, we netted a clean 3 mil. Those Comcast folks haven’t got a clue. Or do they?
Part of the problem with selling off Lowell Cable is the way that they went about it. And granted, maybe selling Lowell Cable was the right thing to do. But to sneak around behind the backs of the citizens of this community and to sell off city property without the knowledge and consent of the public is totally wrong.
The city leaders seem to have forgotten that they are servants. And as servants, they are responsible to the people who elected them. Maybe it is time for some of these elected leaders to become unelected.
