Needless to say, his prohibition efforts were not popular. Drinking increased and there was a rum riot.when people realized what he had done.

Supper Sized Glasses Of Wine.
When ordering wine in Canada, I noted that a “glass” if wine comes in three sizes: small, medium and large. I guess that it cuts down on the number of trips that the wait staff needs to make to the table.
The Wait Staff Was Happy That We Spoke English.
While eating in Montreal, we noted that the waitstaff seemed happy that we spoke English. In fact, some even commented to that effect. I guess that they needed the practice.
White Bread Or Brown Bread.
While ordering breakfast in Montreal, the waitress asked if we wanted white bread or brown bread. While we understood that she meant wheat bread, we had to wonder if that is what French Canadians call wheat bread or if something was lost in translation.
Government Controlled Electric Service.
The Quebec government is taking control of the electric service in Quebec. Well, I wish them the best and hope that it works out for them.
No To Decaf.
While visiting Montreal, we discovered that most of the available decaf coffee was instant. I guess real French Canadians only drink regular coffee.
Canadian Tire.
Canadians must love their tires as they have huge Canadian Tire stores.
There Will Come Soft Rains.
The shower at a motel had a rain head in the ceiling. And while it gave you a soft rain sensation, I miss the massaging action of a conventional shower head.
