Word Press Upgrade

My blog is put together with a program call Word Press. And, Word Press regularly has updates to their software.
Now, in the past, these updates had worked automatically. You just press the update button and it upgrades. No fuss, no muss.
However, a couple of years ago, they came out with an upgrade that was not automatic. This upgrade required you to manually delete certain files and replace them with new ones. Since I was not feeling adventurous and the old version worked just fine, I was reluctant to upgrade. But, as luck would have it, I was forced to upgrade this weekend because my web host was moving from PHP 4 to PHP 5, what ever that means.
When I check my web host to see if they had an automatic upgrade for my old version, I discovered that they did not. Rats!  This meant that I would have to upgrade by adding and deleting files.

If all worked according to plan, it should only take about 10 minutes to complete. But, since these things are never that simple and easy, I planned on using the entire weekend for the upgrade.
Having gone over the upgrade instructions several times during the past few weeks, I felt fairly comfortable with what I was about to do. But, since the instructions were written by someone who was thoroughly familiar with the process, I was concerned that things might not be quite so obvious to me.
So, I was elated to discover that sometime last week, my web host created an automatic upgrade for my old old version of Word Press. And, it worked! 5 minutes and the whole thing was complete. Yes!
I now have a whole weekend to my self. I guess it is back to working on the house.

Pink Martini

The band, following the Ramsey Louis Trio at Ravinia Park, Highland Park Ill, was Pink Martini.

WOW!! I actually preferred them over the Ramsey Louis Trio.  Ramsey Louis was a great musician but Pink Martini was one fantastic show.

Did I say WOW!!?

Ramsey Louis Trio at Ravinia Park.

The other night, I had the privilege of attending a Ramsey Louis Trio concert at Ravinia park in Highland Park, Ill.

What a fantastic event!!  The Governor even showed up to present Ramsey Louis with a “House Resolution” declaring that day to be “Ramsey Louis” day.

The weather was fantastic and the music was most excellent.  An event well worth the evening.

California to Secede From California.

Southern California is thinking about seceding from California.  It seems that the folks in the south feel that California is too big to be run efficiently.  So, they want to leave and become their own state.

Well, more power to them.  If they are successful, maybe west Texas will leave Texas and the Upper Peninsula will leave Michigan.  And while we are at it, maybe Puerto Rico will be come a state too.  And hey, lets not forget western Canada.

Well, I don’t think any of this will happen so I wouldn’t hold off on buying a new flag.

Hillary and W.

As the TV was broadcasting Betty Fords funeral, I couldn’t help but notice that George W. was sitting with Hillary Clinton.

What an odd couple and wondered how they ended up sitting together.   And, I was surprised that Hillary wasn’t sitting with the other first ladies.  But, they both seemed very comfortable sitting together so I guess that is all that really matters.

The Toll Road Drive Through.

The other day, as I was headed for Chicago, I ended up on the toll road.  Now, I don’t really like driving on the toll roads.  And since I am not a regular on the roads, I don’t know all of the finer points of toll booths.

When I pulled up to one toll booth, I looked for a short line.  And, since the short lines are usually off to the sides, I was delighted to see a short line off to my far left.  So, I headed for it.

Once I got in the line, I noticed that it seemed to move much slower than the others.  But, I couldn’t leave the line since there was no place to go.  So, I stayed there.

A few minutes later, I realized why the line was moving so slow.  It wasn’t the line for the toll booth, it was the line for the Micky Ds drive through.

I got a large Diet Coke and then headed for the toll lane.

“M” is for Walmart.

The other day, while I was on a road trip, I decided to stop at Micky Ds for a large Diet Coke.  And, since the Micky Ds here in Michigan will sell them for only a buck, I decided to buy one before I crossed over the state line.  When I saw a highway sign indicating that there was a Micky Ds at the next exit, I took the exit.

Once I got off of the highway, I had to figure out if the Micky Ds was to the right or the left.  Scanning the horizon, I saw a big M, so I headed for it.

The sign was posted in the parking lot of a Walmart.  Figuring that Micky Ds must be in the parking lot, I drove around the store.  But, I could not locate the Micky Ds.  So, I jumped back on the highway and continued my trip.

I guess if Micky Ds is going to spend that much money on a big parking lot sign, they should provide some sort of indication as to just where the store is located.  I decided that I really didn’t need a Diet Coke.  Oh well, it was a nice idea.

Summer Solstice

Well, the Summer Solstice has come and gone.  The days are now getting shorter.  Soon, it will be snowing.

Well, OK, in 6 months we will have winter.  But after the winter Solstice, the days will be getting longer.  🙂

The cycle of the seasons.  Be optimistic!
