I just received a notice that my new laptop arrived at the repair center.  Of course, that was followed by a notice that it has been repaired and shipped back to me all in one day.

Since it is under their warranty, I have to play by their rules.  I am skeptical but time will tell if they have really fixed it this time.

The menu advertized Maryland Crab Cakes.  So, I decided to give them a try.  After all, Maryland is just up the coast from the Outer Banks and it has been a few years since I have eaten Maryland Crab Cakes.

When my plate arrived, there were two crab cakes on it.  YUM!  Then I took my first bite.  YUCH!!!  They were dry and tasteless and loaded with salt.

I managed to choke down one and passed on the second.  The waiter gave me a box for the second cake.  Once I got out side of the restaurant, I dumped the box in the nearest trash receptacle.

The past two times that I returned my laptop for repair, the Geek Squad gave me periodic updates such as “its being shipped”  “its been received” “its being tested”.  But, with the exception of it being shipped,  this time, I have not been given any updates.  I don’t know if that is good or not.  Time will tell.

Every restaurant that we have eaten at on the Outer Banks, NC, has a sanitation rating.  Si far I have not found any restaurants with less than a 99 rating.   I am impressed!  I suspect that if all food establishment were required to post their sanitation rating, their sanitation might improve dramatically.  After all, who wants to eat at a restaurant with a sanitation rating of 70?

This is the National Monument to the Wright Brothers.  It sits high atop that famous hill at Kitty Hawk, over a hundred feet above the field below.  From here, the Wright Brothers launched their epic flights.  And history was made.

Best Buy notified me that my new laptop was repaired and ready to be picked up.  So when I got to the store, I insisted that they turn on the machine to see if it worked.  And, it did.  And since they had replaced the hard drive, I felt better about their repair efforts.

But, after about an hour of loading software updates, it froze up again.  So, I powered it down and tried to power it back up.  But, just like when I first purchased the PC, the LEDs would light for about 30 seconds and then the machine would shut down.

So, apparently, the original problem with the machine was never fixed.  But, since the machine worked when it was first repaired,  that means that it is an intermittent problem which could hide for months only to reappear.

I complained to Best Buy that I have had this laptop for about 3 months now and have yet to use it as it has spent most of the time in the shop.  They assured me that if it couldn’t be fixed that they would refund my money.  We will see.

While in Corolla NC, we noticed a parking lot just down from our house.  And in this parking lot was a fenced off area.  At first I thought that it was a dog park, but after closer examination, I noticed that there was no entrance or exit.  Very strange.

On there Outer Banks of NC, there are over 100 wild horses roaming the dunes.  This is one of a dozen horses that I got a picture of.

Nothing like a big breakfast before we hit the road.

Eating at Joe’s Crab Shack.  I have never eaten  there before.  Very good food.
